Compared to Rocketman (2019), the biopic that Elton himself produced, Never Too Late presents itself as a more controlled story, almost devoid of controversial moments. There is not the same sincere and at times ruthless gaze of Tantrums and Tiaras, the movie shot by Furnish in 1997, but the strength of the film lies in the music: iconic songs such as Your Song, Rocket Man and Tiny Dancer create an immediate emotional connection with the audience.
