Roshan Kanakala, son of famous anchor Suma- Rajeev Kanakala, made his debut with the movie 'Bubblegum'. Telugu girl Masana Chowdhury played the heroine in this movie. 'Krishna and His Leela' fame director Ravikanth directed this movie. This film, produced under the banner of People Media Factory, was released on Friday (December 29). How is the debutant hero's performance? Did he get a hit with his first film?
Bubblegum Movie Story:
Adi alias Aditya (Roshan Kanakala) is a middle-class boy from Hyderabad. He lives intending to become a DJ. He falls in love with Janu alias Janvi (Manasa Chaudhary) at a party. She is a very mature girl. Having become accustomed to the modern lifestyle, she does not believe much in emotions like love and marriage.
Adi, who sees boys as toys, initially likes the way the DJ plays. After that, his personality changes and she gets closer to him. In the process, she falls in love with Adi without knowing it. However, a sudden act by Jaanu's friend at a party causes a rift between the two of them.
Moreover, Jaanu humiliates Adi in front of everyone at the party. And what happened after that? How did Adi take that insult from Jaanu? What did their love, which had two different backgrounds, finally reach? Did Adi achieve his goal of becoming a DJ? Or not? That is another story.
Bubblegum Movie Analysis:
Although the story of this ‘Bubble Gum’ is a bit bold, the story (screenplay) progresses very slowly and tests the patience of the audience. Also, the conflict point that comes in the interval in the movie is not impressive. The journey of the main characters, the hero and heroine, is not designed properly, and the story that revolves around them is also fake and bold, which are the minus points of the movie.
In fact, the youth of this generation are interested in watching such bold love stories. Movies like RX100 and Baby became hits due to their boldness and good treatment. However, along with such content, there should be freshness and interesting elements. That interest is missing in this Bubble Gum movie.
Especially in the second half, many scenes progress very slowly and get boring. Overall, this emotional love story has some comedy scenes and some bold elements, but the lack of interest in the remaining scenes has become a minus for the flow of the film. In addition, it can be said that the director has diverted the story with some unnecessary scenes.
Actors Performance:
Roshan perfectly embodied the role of Adi as a pure Hyderabadi boy. His looks, acting, and dialogue delivery are all good. He has shown good acting in emotional scenes as well. Manasa Chaudhary as Janhvi impressed with both her beauty and acting. She tried to warm up the audience with some romantic scenes.
Chaitu Jonnalagadda's role as the hero's father impresses everyone. This role is the main attraction for the second half. As befits the name of Bubblegum, the entire first half is like a drawn-out affair. The second half, however, is packed with some laughter... and a little more emotion. It seems that the story uses too many vulgarities in an attempt to attract the youth.
It also seems that the director has not been able to clearly convey what he wanted to say. However, he has managed to get good performances from the new actors. Although Sricharan's songs are not very memorable, the background music is impressive. Suresh's cinematography is good. The production values are inferior to the story.
Strengths
+ Roshan, emotional acting
+ Father-son track
+ Dramatic ending in the second half
Weaknesses
- Unoriginal story
- First half
Finally: Bubblegum, bland at first, a bit sweet at the end
