Flight Risk: Mark Wahlberg's Preparation for the Role

Speaking to People, Wahlberg revealed that, because of his commitment to staying focused on the role in Flight Risk, his behavior off-camera was distant. “I was stuck in the part the whole time,” the actor said. “I apologized at the end because I wasn’t very engaging off-camera or off-camera, but I was just in [that] headspace.”

In Flight Risk, Wahlberg plays a pilot tasked with transporting a government informant, played by Topher Grace, along with a U.S. Marshal, played by Michelle Dockery. However, his character is hiding a crucial secret that changes the dynamic between the passengers, culminating in a physical confrontation that leaves the pilot removed from the cockpit.

On the set of Flight Risk, Wahlberg explained that his immersion in the character led him to isolate himself. “If we weren’t shooting, I would either be in a corner by myself, or I would go back to my little dressing room and just sit there,” he explained, adding that the aloofness was due to the need to maintain the mental state required for the role.
